New Booking Systems for NZ Container Parks | April 2015

Posted on 30 April 2015

New Zealand Container Parks are introducing a new booking system, Containerchain, effective from the 4th May 2015. Containerchain is a system used by Container Parks in Australia to administer empty container fleets on behalf of shipping lines.

How does the system work?

This new booking system will be used to return empty import containers and uplift empty export containers. We will make these bookings on your behalf. From the 1st June 2015 an Empty Container Booking Recovery Charge will apply. Initially we foresee this system will add additional pressure on all parties, having to potential to result in detention costs.

Will this improve service?

Once this system is fully integrated we should see reduced delays at Container Parks and more certainty around delivery and uplift times. We are watching this development closely to understand the impact.

Have you got questions about this new system? Contact your local Account Manager for further advice.
